The sports category celebrates skill and teamwork with events ranging from traditional sports like cricket and volleyball to individual challenges like table tennis and chess. E-sports enthusiasts can also participate in gaming competitions like Tekken and FIFA 24. Judged on performance and fair play, this category embodies the spirit of competition.


BASKETBALL

MALE AND FEMALE

  • 5 players and 3 substitutes

  • 24-minute game with 2 halves

  • A draw results in 2 extra halves of 3 minutes each

  • 5 fouls result in a technical foul

FUTSAL

MALE

  • 8 players per team (5+3), including the keeper, with rolling substitutes

  • No offside or back passes

  • The referee’s decision is final; arguments lead to a red card

  • Direct free kicks are not allowed, only regular penalties

  • If the match is a draw, 5 penalty kicks per team

  • 3-minute suspension for a red card

  • 20-minute match with 10-minute halves

CRICKET

  • 5 overs per innings

  • No LBWs or byes

  • No last man

  • The umpire’s decision is final and cannot be challenged

CHESS

  • 10 minutes per player

  • If unresolved within time, the winner is decided by the maximum score

  • Knockout tournament

  • A game is won by:

    • Checkmate

    • Opponent’s resignation

    • Running out of time

  • A game is drawn by:

    • Stalemate

    • Agreement of both players

    • Fifty-move rule

    • Three-fold repetition

  • Resigning results in a loss

TABLE TENNIS

  • Singles only

  • Knockout format for all matches

  • PTTF rules apply

  • If the serve touches the net, the player must serve again

  • The referee’s decision is final and cannot be questioned

BADMINTON

MALE AND FEMALE

  • Best of 3 games

  • At 10-all, a 2-point lead wins the game

  • The winner of a game serves first in the next game

  • Serve must be underarm and below the server’s waist height

  • No player may touch the net with their body or racket

  • No double hits on the shuttlecock

  • No deliberate distractions allowed

  • The referee’s decision is final

SNOOKER

  • Tournament-style competition

  • Knockout format

  • 3 rounds: qualifying, semi-finals, and finals

  • Top 4 players from qualifying go to semi-finals

  • Qualifying matches with 3 red balls, semi-finals and finals with 6 red balls

  • 3 frames per match in qualifying and semi-finals, best of 5 frames for finals

  • In case of a tie, a re-spotted black decides the winner

  • Walk-over is awarded if a player fails to show up

  • Match official's decision is final

VOLLEYBALL

  • Teams: 6 active players, 2 substitutes

  • Age group: 14-20 years

  • Standard volleyball rules apply

  • 3 sets per match, 15 points each

  • In case of time constraints, 1 set of 25 points

  • Semi-finals and finals: 3 sets of 25 points each

  • Blind draw for tournament

  • Double elimination if <=8 teams, single elimination if >8 teams

LUDO

  • Players must kill at least one token to enter the 'home' area

BOYS WEIGHT CLASSES:

  • Under 70kg right hand, free weight right hand

  • Under 70kg left hand, free weight left hand

GIRLS WEIGHT CLASSES:

  • Under 65kg right hand, free weight right hand

  • Under 65kg left hand, free weight left hand


    Rules

  • Best of 5 format for matches

  • Shoulders of both players must be in a square position before the match starts

  • Competitors must keep one foot in contact with the floor at all times

  • Non-competing hand must remain in contact with the peg at all times

  • A pin cannot be made if the elbow is out of the pocket

  • A foul is committed if any part of the player’s body (e.g., shoulders, chin, or head) touches the competing hands

  • A false start or intentional slip-outs are considered fouls

  • Three fouls in a single round result in disqualification

  • A winning pin is made by touching the opponent’s to the touch pad

STRONGMAN

POWERLIFTING (MALE ONLY):

  • Benchpress

  • Squats

  • Deadlifts

  • Standard lifting-form & rules apply

CIRCUIT (MALE ONLY):

  • Consists of three exercises: 20 squats, 50 push-ups, 30 sit-ups

  • Participant completing the circuit in the shortest time is the winner

  • During push-ups, knees should not touch the ground, and elbows should not be flared

  • During sit-ups, no half reps allowed, feet must touch the ground

  • During squats, knees should not go in front of the toes; proper form must be maintained

GAMING

Tekken 8:

  • 1v1 knockout matches of 3 rounds

  • Each round is 60 seconds

  • Semi-finals: Best of 3 rounds

  • Finals: Best of 5 rounds

  • Matches played on PS4

  • Custom controllers allowed, but macros lead to disqualification

COD Modern Warfare 2:

  • Mode: Search and Destroy

  • Round win limit: 5

  • Time limit per round: 2 minutes

  • Score streaks are not allowed

FIFA:

  • Half-time: 4 minutes

  • Camera angle: Default

  • Gameplay speed: Normal

  • Any team and controls can be selected

  • Classic/World XI teams cannot be used

THROWBALL

MALE AND FEMALE

  • Team of 9 players (7 players, 2 substitutes)

  • 3 sets per match, 15 points each

  • Players catch the ball with both hands but throw with only one

  • Fumble, body touch, or double touch results in a foul

  • Line cut during service results in a point for the opponent

  • Ball landing in the dead zone results in a point for the opponent

  • Ball landing on court lines is considered in

  • Serve within 3 seconds of the whistle, failure results in opponent scoring a point

  • After deuce, 2 consecutive points are needed to win the set

TUG OF WAR

  • Team of 10 players (8 players, 2 substitutes)

  • If both hands of a player touch the ground, opposing team wins the round

  • Substitution allowed only between individual matches

  • No cleated or metal shoes allowed

SCAVENGER HUNT

  • Team of 4 to 6 members

  • Aim: Complete challenges and find clues

  • No splitting of teams during the hunt

  • 2 rounds:

    • Round 1: Elimination round

    • Round 2: Teams completing all tasks in the shortest time qualify

ATHLETICS

MALE & FEMALE

  • Race starts with the command: "on your marks," followed by "set" and "go"

  • Sprinter must start with feet on the starting blocks

  • False start: disqualification

  • 100m and 200m sprinters leaving lanes or obstructing others will be disqualified

  • 1 winner and 1 runner-up
